The feedback and bug reports keep coming in – helping me to continue developing and improving this configuration. I’m proud to announce version 0.5 of my design (maybe I should give them names). Once again, this version uses some new PanelsUI features so be sure to get the 0.7.0 beta so that everything works.
So, what’s new?
Version 0.5:
- Added last played and playcounts to Song Info panel
- Improved track codec text in Song Info Panel
- Album/artist group headers crop when there is not enough space
- Added installation notice
- Added Volume slider to bottom ‘cog’ menu
- Added second but primary source for album art in Now Playing: “$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,folder.*)” before resorting to the old method.
- Added support for %album artist%, if this meta tag exists then both artist and track are displayed in playlist
- Switched SCPL album art from %tracknumber% to %_itemindex% based drawing, so that tracknumber errors do not render image erroneously. Similarly multi-cd albums show artwork only once unless discs are in separate groups.
- Added “Sort By” panel on SCPL – clicking Sort by Artist changes how items are grouped then sorts the tracks by artist.
- Sort by Artist, Sort by Path, Sort by Title, Sort by Album, Reverse Sorting
- When Sorted by title – No tracknumber is displayed, Artist appears to right of song title
- When Sorted by artist – no album art is shown, instead an artist image is used
- Improved White Theme pause on Now Playing, fixed Spectrum overlay bug.
- Improved Theme and in particular Hotness colours for White Theme
- Border of selected tracks now colour of “hotness”
- Random other bug fixes
If you have any requests please make them known in the comments.
At the moment I don’t have much time to write a full html enriched tutorial describing how to install this configuration and then customise it. If anone could take the time to do this, explaining fonts, components, etc I would be most grateful as I am sure many others will be.

hi fofr thanks for a wonderful update ^^
just a few things i don’t quite get yet…
umm how do we download Artist images using foobar
i have both the run component and the .exe files
just dont quite understand how to link all these together
andd been trying to check the album artist thingy, i doesn’t seem to work
but other than the above quirks all is fine!
just a suggestion, is it possible leave the AZ and Arrow buttons the same place then are when they are pressed?
thanks for this update once again! it’s great!

and sorry for the spam!
just one last thing. for tracks without album images, clicking on the “no-cover” image does not pause the track, is there anyway to “fix” it? thanks! =]

I have it setup to run a download cover program instead. Obviously you dont have this run command so it appears to do nothing. I will replace it for the next version.

Hello.
Thank you for sharing your conf like that .
I tried to install it on Windows Vista.
I’ve extracted it on foobar’s folder : black foobar, no pics.
So I tried to edit FofR… .pui file, and edit this var $setpvar(dir,D:/FoobarCFG/images)
Now, when I run foobar, I get : Unhandled exception : bad allocation.
Using up to date Windows Vista home premium, foobar2000 0.9.4.2 , panels UI 0.7.2 beta
I don’t get it … is that a problem with windows vista or am I doing something wrong ?
March 2nd, 2007 at 12:37 pm
Just out of curiosity how do I get that run command? I have the foo_run component, I’m just not sure how I should set it up to use with your config.

please help me fix the problems in this screen shot (http://img262.imageshack.us/my.php?image=foobarqs4.jpg). the reflection of the cover is the same opacity of the original. i thought it was supposed to fade. i’m not very advanced at buttons, but now playing, playlist, and explorer aren’t showing. can someone provide some guidance where to find the answers or provide them too me. thanks.

Excellent work on your setup FofR. I really enjoy your skin…so does everyone else.
March 2nd, 2007 at 2:56 pm
Bravo, another great release. It would be great if one could manually move an album group up and down. Also a Sort By Date could organize all albums by their year.
March 2nd, 2007 at 3:12 pm
Thanks for this. I have a 1920×1200 monitor, is there a way to get it to switch to fullscreen behavior without actually taking up the whole screen?
March 2nd, 2007 at 3:55 pm
Great config, thank you very much for sharing.
I can’t figure out how to show my album art which is placed in
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\foobar2000\Covers\’%artist%’ – ‘%album%’.jpg
In v0.3 it was
(coverartsrc,’C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\foobar2000\Covers\’%artist%’ – ‘%album%’.jpg’)
and it worked perfectly, but it doesn’t seem to work in v0.5
I would appreciate any help, thank you.

For anyone having trouble with “Now Playing” album art, make sure you have the “s0″ and “s1″ directory below your base images directory.
I had this problem once, it turns out a lot of unzippers don’t recognize directory structure. When you open up the zip, you’ll only see a list of files. If you drag and drop these files manually, instead of decompressing the whole file and copying the files from the new directory, you’ll destroy the directory structure.
So, just unzip the install file again, copy your images folder (with nested s1,s0 folder) into your preferred location, modify config and off you go.

i have no idea for how to make it..
im so noob
March 3rd, 2007 at 1:36 am
For my earlier question, I figured it out by changing
$ifequal(%_width%,$getpvar(screenresolution),
$setpvar(fullscreen,1)
To:
$ifgreater(%_width%,1280,
$setpvar(fullscreen,1)

I didn’t have a problem with config images, but with path to album covers.
I realised that “now playing” and SCPL don’t use same code for displaying album covers and i managed to fix the problem by copying path from v.03
March 3rd, 2007 at 2:23 pm
this looks great, but I don’t know how to install it correctly, does anyone have a moment to tell me how to install it? ravensoft at gmail dot com

Awesome configuration! Would it be possible to get a list of components that we need for this? (I like to keep my foobar running the bare minimum amount of components needed for speed factors)
March 4th, 2007 at 7:57 am
Thanks once again for posting the update. I think I’m gonna check out the code, and add the parts that are not in the last version, I’ve changed a lot of the last version and I don’t want to lose all my changes and customization!
thanks once again! Keep it UP!

This is somehow wrong. I think you made it for a higher vertical resolution than the 768 I’m running. I reckon the sort by xxx buttons don’t show, because I can’t “open it high enough”
Any way to fix that? I don’t have the transparency as well, even though the folders are the way they should be.
Still looking very good, thx!!!
March 4th, 2007 at 1:03 pm
The above can be deleted, I figured it out. Looks great!!!
But I don’t seem to be able to delete playlists.
And I can’t figure out how to use the albumart downloader…
Thansk in advance!
March 4th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
First of all thx for this wonderful config:)
But i was wondering, how come it shows that artist name for all the songs in the playlist? and not only the track title.
Xample:
mine
Artist Album Name Year Genre
01 Artist – Title
02 Artist – Title
And it should look like:
Artist Album Name Year Genre
01 Title
02 Title

How about adding some bonus functionality? You could replace your last-played-based “hotness” with the more elaborate hotness meta-rating by topdownjimmy (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=31287).
In fact, I did so myself, so I write this hoping that I won’t need to edit your code again each time you release a new version
If my quick-n-dirty code would interest you, here it is:
SCPL (replaces your 6-grade hotness colour scheme):
$puts(hotness,$muldiv(255,$get_global(hotness),100)-00-00)
Hotness here is a variable defined by topdownjimmy’s code.

Thanks for great config. I love it
March 5th, 2007 at 5:13 am
Hi! I want to say that this config is pure greatness! Thanks for the work and keep the updates coming.
I have just one request: some people rate their songs with a rating of 0 and use the skip component to skip these songs. So, can you change your script to add some icon (a simple X, for example) for a rating of 0, or lower than 1, something like that. Thanks in advance!
March 5th, 2007 at 8:22 am
i’m a new user and i’m loving your config
but how can i apply all those images from the image folder(buttons, backgroun etc.)??
March 7th, 2007 at 1:41 am
Love the configuration.
I second llaammuuss’s request of having the rating change. Im a noob so after hours of trying number inside the star too keep they icons simple but I cant configure it to show the right star. I just switched out the heart to a star with embedded 5, and added more stars to show the rest of the rating. Then I edit this a bit.
// Other Images used
$puts(speakerpic,$getpvar(dir)\speaker-1.png)
$puts(heartpic,$getpvar(dir)\heart-1.png)
$puts(starpic4,$getpvar(dir)\star4.png)
$puts(starpic3,$getpvar(dir)\star3.png)
$puts(starpic2,$getpvar(dir)\star2.png)
$puts(starpic1,$getpvar(dir)\star1.png)
but couldnt figure out how to change the rating config to display the right picture for the right rating. anyone’s help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the great configuration.

I really like your layout for the playlist, but I can’t seem to get any buttons to work. Can you send me a config for panel ui with just the playlist window from your config, but add playlist dropdown, normal buttons panel, and the normal menu?
March 9th, 2007 at 2:25 pm
I hope you could help me with this. I don’t use “Album list” so I tried to change it to “Playlist switcher” but it seems it doesn’t work . Panel UI show the Playlist switcher but clicking on any playlist doesn’t send the playlist to SCPL at all . Is there any workaround for this .
Thanks in advance.
March 9th, 2007 at 9:40 pm
I start to think my problem with “playlist switcher” panel (in replace for “Album list” ) is kind of bug . with the default PUI I could add the switcher and had it work without problem.
I hope you could take look and help me with this. thanks very much.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Can anyone tell me how to get the images to show up? I’m assuming I have them in the wrong directory but I’ve tried putting them in any dir that made sense. Thanks.
March 9th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
Never mind, sorry being such a noob. I just noticed install.png in the images dir.
March 12th, 2007 at 9:10 am
I have a problem with the button bar wich i cant see. Its the bar with the button that expands the menu. Here is a screnshot. I just downloaded all the plugins required en installed the latest foobar.
I hope you can help me.

can anyone help me with a fix for this problem. whenever the bitrate is too long, it drops down a line and conflicts with the line below it. can someone show me how to make it force the line below it to drop whenever this is the case, cheers

March 13th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
just like to say great config and execution, however ive got a couple of problems with it. whenever i add a new album to the library or directory, the image used for the album is smaller than the others, even though all the images are the same size 500*500 and looks like this
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1260/needfixing2wn1.jpg
and the other issue is with the bitrate on the track info, if the bitrate is too long, it drops down and covers the info below it. i’d like it to just move everything down so that nothing gets covered up like so;

March 14th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
“- Added last played and playcounts to Song Info panel”
for some reason, neither of these features work, it just constantly shows;
Playcount: ?
Last Played: Never
what components do i need to get these to work?
“- When Sorted by artist – no album art is shown, instead an artist image is used”
how do i get it to show the artist image, as whenever i choose Sort By Artist, it just shows track lists and no image?
I also can’t seem to get the additional image to work in Now Playing like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/kidtwist/Untitled-1.jpg
mine remains like this
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v220/kidtwist/Untitled-2.jpg
i hope someone can help, i love this config, its one of the best out there and i would really like it to work fully. thanks in advance.

FofR, what visual style did you use?
May 17th, 2007 at 5:09 am
Ich have problems to let show the Album art.
I have changed it to
$setpvar(coverartsrc,’E:\Eigene Dateien\Eigene Bilder\Cover\$replace(%artist%,’ ‘,)-$replace(%album%,’ ‘,).jpg’)
But still nothing. Whats wrong
July 12th, 2007 at 2:52 am
@Spirit_of_the_Ocean>>
Try it with: $setpvar(coverartsrc,’E:/Eigene Dateien/Eigene Bilder/Cover/$replace(%artist%,’ ‘,)-$replace(%album%,’ ‘,).jpg’)
so / instead of \
could help.
